NILAMBAZAR, April 22 - Karimganj Police arrested a youth of Kaliganj on charges of sedition and was sent to judicial custody for 14 days on Wednesday.
The arrested youth Islam Uddin (35), a resident of Dighirpar of Kaliganj area, was allegedly posting anti-Hindu messages on the social media platform Facebook.
�We have received complaints and booked him under Section 153 (A)/295(A)/506 IPC, R/W 67 of IT Act and today he was sent to judicial custody after a case was registered at Karimganj police station,� said Utpol Chanda, in-charge, Kaliganj Police Petrol Post.
�The Cyber Cell of Karimganj Police has been put on high alert by our SP to keep track of all the sensitive posts made viral via different social medias leading to possible law-and-order situation in the society,� Chanda added.
It has been learnt that the accused person is an employee of Indane Gas Agency, Kaliganj. He stated before the police during the investigation that unknown persons have hacked his Facebook profile and uploaded the communal post in his name.
