BARPETA, Sept 14 - One Hafijur Rahman, who had allegedly assaulted a young girl on September 11 last here was arrested by the police from Baskandi in Cachar district yesterday.
According to information available, acting on a specific tip-off, police managed to achieve success within 48 hours of the incident which had rocked the town for the last three days.
It may be mentioned that a young girl, an employee of the V2 Shopping Mall here, was physically manhandled by Hafijur on September 11 last when she turned up for her duty in the morning. The girl informed that Hafijur had repeatedly proposed to marry which she declined. The incident is regarded as an act of frustration due to the repeated refusal to accept his proposal.
