Young Indians unit's mission to clean Guwahati

GUWAHATI, March 24 � To inculcate a sense of cleanliness among citizens and foster community solidarity and sharing of responsibility for building up a better and healthy Guwahati, Young Indians (Yi), Guwahati chapter of Confederation of Indian Industry, is launching Mission Clean Guwahati, a press release said.

Mission Clean Guwahati will start the initiative with a contest among the unnayan samitis or development committees to judge the cleanest locality in the city.

According to Debajit Chaliha, chair, Guwahati chapter, the practice of community cleanliness drives is prevalent in cities like Shillong and Kohima and Guwahati being the gateway to the Northeast should not lag behind in adopting this innovative practice.

The localities can participate through their respective unnayan samitis. Application forms will be forwarded to the unnayan samitis. A sample area in each participant locality will be judged over a period of two weeks.

Yi has called for the support of all citizens to take this mission forward which can be an important stepping stone to building a better future for the city. For further enquires, committees can email at [email protected]
