SILCHAR, Feb 28 - In a move to spot the autorickshaws running within the town area without local
permit, the Cachar District Transport office has issued a directive to the autorickshaws owners of Silchar asking them to paint
the upper potions of
their vehicles licensed to ply inside the town area in yellow colour and to keep the lower portion in black colour.
Angshuman Biswas, the District Transport Officer said that this decision was taken after the recent traffic advisory meeting held at the Deputy Commissioner�s Office.
�This is an initiative to streamline the autorickshaws of the town and also for better identification of the autorickshaws coming into the town area without permit,� Biswas said.
He added to inform that the autorickshaw owners have been given one month to complete the conversion process. If they fail to accomplish the task, steps will be taken as per MV Act.
