XIth biennial meet of PANE at Assam University, Diphu

GUWAHATI, Nov 19 - The XIth edition of the biennial conference of the Physics Academy of North East (PANE) will be held at Assam University, Diphu campus from November 21-23, a press release stated.

Prof Anil Goswami, former Principal of Cotton College will attend the inaugural programme as the chief guest. Prof H Nand Kumar Sarma, former VC, Manipur University along with Prof Anil Goswami will be felicitated for their life-long contributions in the field of Physics education and research.

Renowned physicist, Prof Pijush Pani Bhattacharjee of the Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics (SINP) will deliver the Bipin Pal Das Memorial oration on the topic �Mass discrepancy of the Universe�. Prof Bala Iyer of International Centre for Theoretical Studies (ICTS), Bengaluru will deliver the keynote address on the topic �From Gravitational Wave Detection

to Multi-Messenger Astronomy�.

There will be two plenary talks, which will be delivered by Prof Mandar M Deshmukh of TIFR, Mumbai and Prof A Surjalal Sharma of Goddard Planetary Heliophysics Institute, University of Maryland, USA.

Nine invited speakers from various institutes of the North East will deliver lectures on High Energy Physics, Astrophysics and Cosmology, Condensed Matter Physics, Plasma Physics, Optics, Photonics, Space and Atmospheric Physics.

A large number of participants from all across the Northeast and other parts of India are going to attend the conference and present

papers in nine technical sessions.

There will also be a poster presentation by the participants. Young scientist awards will be given for the best oral and poster presentations in the form of book coupons worth of 150 euros each along with a certificate from Springer.

North Eastern Council (NEC), Department of Atomic Energy (DAE) and Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) are supporting the conference this year.
