GUWAHATI, March 18 - The Assam State Centre of the Institution of Engineers (India) in association with water-related departments of Central and state governments will celebrate World Water Day on March 22 on its premises at Panbazar.
The inaugural function, to be presided over by Dr SK Kakoty, Chairman of the Centre will start at 5.30 pm where Dr Bhabesh Ch Goswami, Vice Chancellor of Cotton University and Moloy Bora, CEO of GMDA will be the chief guest and guest of honour respectively, said a press release.
This year�s World Water Day theme is: �Leaving no one behind�. The keynote speech on the theme will be given by Prof Arup Kr Sarma from IIT Guwahati.
The Satyendra Sarma Memorial Award and Gokul Ch Goswami Memorial Award will be given to the best engineering graduate and best electrical engineering graduate respectively under Gauhati University for the year 2018. The recipients of the awards are Manalee Bordoloi and Abhilasha Lahkar of Assam Engineering College. A souvenir will also be released at the function.
The inaugural function will be followed by a technical seminar on the focal theme where five technical papers will be presented by distinguished engineers and academicians.
