World Physiotherapy Day observed

GUWAHATI, Sept 8 - On the occasion of World Physiotherapy Day today, a rally, blood donation camp, free physiotherapy health camp and a signature campaign were organised by the Assam Physiotherapy Association of Govt Institutions (APAGI) at the Silpukhuri Rajohuwa Namghar here, a press release stated.

The programme was sponsored by the Assam Downtown University and other medical personnel. More than 40 patients attended the camp. Common conditions like back pain, neck pain, knee pain, etc. were treated by the therapists.

The president and the general secretary of APAGI spoke on physiotherapy and human health.

A unit of home physiotherapy service, Physiofirst, was also started by the APAGI in all districts of Assam. The first four places were Guwahati, Nalbari, Tezpur and Lakhimpur. More districts will be added through meetings with members.

The signature campaign was inaugurated by poet and writer Mrinalini Saikia, the release added.

Meanwhile, the physiotherapy fraternity of Assam including physiotherapy departments of the College of Physiotherapy and Medical Sciences, Bamunimaidam; Regional Institute of Paramedical Technology, Panjabari; Down Town Institute of Allied Health Sciences, Panikhaity; All Assam Physiotherapy Association and IAP Assam Branch organised a physiotherapy awareness rally. The rally started from the Assam Engineering Institute playground and ended at the Assam State Zoo. Famous Assamese actress Prastuti Parashor inaugurated the rally.

The rally was conducted to spread awareness among the public, a press release stated.
