SILCHAR, Aug 30 - In a bid to generate awareness on heart diseases and ways to keep heart healthy, the Barak Valley chapter of the Heart Care Society of Assam along with other associations here shall organise month-long camps across the three districts of southern Assam. This was informed by veteran cardiologist Dr PC Sarma here on Wednesday.
Dr Sarma, who is also the president of the Barak Valley chapter of the Society, said, �This initiative has been taken as part of the World Heart Day on September 29. We will observe the World Heart Month when several health camps will be held throughout the month of September. We want people to be aware about how to prevent major heart diseases and lead a healthy life.�
Also, noted social activist Subhash Choudhury, who is a member of the Society, informed that youths and students need to know about the dimensions of health education and awareness meets would be held across colleges and institutes during the month-long campaign.
It may be mentioned here that the central programme of the initiative shall be held at the Banga Bhawan on September 22. Dr Nirmal Kanti Bhattacharjee, state president of the Society, shall address the people on the occasion.
