World Disability Day observed in Tinsukia

DOOMDOOMA, Dec 4 - The World Disability Day celebrated was jointly observed at Gopalkrishna Girls� High School, Makum under the aegis of Hapjan Education Block of Sarba Shiksha Abhiyan and the Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan, Tinsukia district on Thursday.

The meeting held on this occasion was chaired by the former Chairman of SEBA, Dhanadev Mahanta.

Addressing the gathering, principal of Tinsukia Commerce College, Dr Chaitanya Borah dwelt on the significance of World Disabled Day.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education) of Tinsukia district Geetali Duwarah , SDO(Civil) of Sadiya SK Gogoi, District Elementary Education Officer, Binti Sharma, BDO, Manashi Saikia, former headmaster of Digboi High School, Radhakanta Gogoi, general secretary of Tinsukia District Academic Council, Amulya Dutta and several others also attended the meeting. Earlier , the Inspector of Schools, Tinsukia District Circle Bitupon Hazarika explained the objectives of the meeting.

The magazine titled �Unmesh� published by Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan, Tinsukia District and e-magazine �Daur� published by the Samagra Shiksha, Tinsukia district were also released in the meeting.

The prizes of the various competitions organised among the disabled children during the �Disabled Week� were distributed among the winners. Moreover, various aids and appliances were also distributed among the disabled children in the meeting.

On the other hand , the �Prerona Prize - 2020� given by Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan, Tinsukia was conferred upon Garima Bharali, a disabled student who passed out the HSLC Examination this year from Doomdooma Girls� High School in first division with letter mark in Assamese and Ranjit Bikash Chetia , an assistant teacher of Makum GB Chowkhani H S School.

The four other education blocks of Tinsukia district namely Sadiya, Kakopothar, Margherita and Tinsukia Urban also observed the World Disabled Day in their respective places.
