World Consumer Rights Day observed in Nagaland

DIMAPUR, March 15 - World Consumer Rights Day was observed by different consumer organisations on the theme �Consumer Rights in Digital Age� in Nagaland today.

Speaking on the occasion in Kohima, president of Nagaland Voluntary Consumers Organisation Kezkhokhoto Savi said an alert consumer is an asset to the nation.

He mentioned that the World Consumers Day is an opportunity to promote basic rights of all consumers and to demand that their rights are respected and protected against market abuses and social injustices which undermines those rights.

Savi also stated that Consumer Rights Day should be a reminder that there is a right for everyone and that in this digital world one should be aware of one�s right as a consumer.

Also, exhorting the teachers on the Day, he said teachers can play a major role in disseminating information on consumer rights and build a more informed society.

In Wokha, the day was jointly observed by Wokha District Voluntary Consumers Association and Department of Legal Metrology & Consumer Protection at Don Bosco Youth Centre.

The Day was also observed in Phek district headquarters with Shepalu Venuh, former member, Consumer Dispute Redresal Forum Phek town as guest speaker.
