World blood donor day observed

GUWAHATI, June 14 - On the occasion of World Blood Donor Day today, the Junior Doctors� Association, Guwahati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), along with the state-of-the-art Model Blood Bank, GMCH, organised the second phase of �Lohitanjali,� a monthly blood donation campaign initiated by the junior doctors� body.

Blood donors actively participated in the campaign. Among them, Gayan Chand Jain, a person from Bongaigaon who donated blood for the 100th time, was felicitated by Dr Achyut Baishya, Principal-cum-Chief Superintendent, GMCH.

Guwahati Queens, in association with Lions Club Guwahati Care, also organised a blood camp at Marwari Hospitals Athgaon. Over 35 units of blood where donated by the Corona Superheroes (Club members and well-wishes) following the social distancing norms.

The camp was organised in the presence of zone president JC Rajesh Kumar Gangwal and others.

The Team Humanity Kamrup along with blood donors also organised a blood camp at the Health City Hospital here on the occasion of World Blood Donor Day. Altogether 21 voluntary donors, including first-time donors, donated blood. The volunteers from the group have been continuously donating blood amid the coronavirus pandemic.
