By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, April 2 The Assam Autism Foundation observed World Autism Day today in its centre premises at New Guwahati. The theme of the day was Autism, a beautiful mind.

The aim of the meeting held on the occasion was to highlight the positive strength through an art exhibition of the children.

The meeting was attended by all sections of people. The awareness programme mainly targeted school students. Students of many educational institutions attended the meeting.

The meeting was presided over by Vandana Goel, a social activist and attended by a number of guests. Lauding the work of the Foundation, Goel highlighted the need for voluntary social service.

Now as the number of children of autism is increasing, it is time to take a different look at autism. This group of children would develop only if we look at their positive talents and provide them the opportunity to express those talents, said Dr Shabina Ahmed, managing trustee of the Foundation.

Parents of autistic children also expressed their feelings on the occasion.

Bimal Phukan, a litterateur and social activist who was the guest of honour, highlighted the uniqueness and difficulties in delivering service to this group of children.
