GUWAHATI, March 13 - The Sanjevani Hospital of Guwahati organised a two-day workshop on urology under the aegis of the Centre of Advance Urology and Kidney Disease at its campus recently.
Around 100 doctors and urological experts from across the country and abroad participated in the workshop. The doctors attended the workshop from Pragjyoti�ITA Complex here through video-conferencing.
The workshop focused on the recent advancements in the operative endourological techniques using latest equipment. It also included practical suggestions on how to practise such techniques with precision and safety.
Head of Urology department, Sanjevani Hospital, Dr Arup Kr Nath conducted the workshop along with a team of expert urological surgeons.
�The workshop mainly was aimed to highlight the modern equipment available and its use in treating patients with kidney stones and prostate using laser-guided technology/endoscopy. These technologies have made operations accurate and precise relative to earlier manual operations,� Dr Nath said in a statement.
�During the workshop, we have successfully operated 14 patients at Sanjevani Hospital using advanced laser technology. The participating doctors got a view of the operations through video-conferencing,� he said.
�The workshop will immensely help the participating surgeons and doctors from the field to know the usage of modern technology and apply it in their places of work,� he added.
Dr Bhaben Choudhury, Managing Director of the hospital, said, �After conducting the blood donation camp, health camp and free dental camp in the month of January, now we are looking forward to developing the Urology and Dentistry Department. With this workshop, our doctors will now be able to understand more about the changing technology in the concerned field and this will in return help the people of our State.�
