Workshop on safety of patients

GUWAHATI, Dec 5 - On the occasion of the World Patient Safety Day, Down Town Hospital is organising the first North East Patient Safety Workshop on December 8 in association with the National Accreditation Board for Hospitals & Healthcare Providers (NABH), New Delhi.

Dr KK Kalra, CEO-NABH, will be the keynote speaker. Prof Arpan Guha, head, Post Graduate School of Medicine, University of Liverpool, UK, will discuss the patient safety module of the Liverpool University.

Beenamma Korian, State Quality Assurance Coordinator, Department of Health & Family Welfare, Government of Karnataka, will speak on nursing safety. Asmita Paul from Kolkata will speak on surgical safety and Kanchan Chowdhury, Professor and Head, Cryogenic Engineering Centre, IIT Kharagpur, will speak on fire safety. Besides, there will be a panel discussion by a group of experts of Down Town Hospital.

The purpose of the meeting is to create awareness on patient safety in this region, a press release stated.
