GUWAHATI, March 16 � A workshop on �Building Awareness among Women Consultants in India� was held at the SB Deorah College, here recently. The North India Technical
Consultancy Organisation Ltd (NITCON), on behalf of Consultancy Development Centre (CDC), an autonomous institute of DSIR, Ministry of Science & Technology, New Delhi,
and in collaboration with the Career Guidance and Counselling Cell of SB Deorah College organised the workshop for the girl students of the college.
The inaugural session of the workshop was presided over by Dr Dharmendra Nath, principal of the college. Dr Dhrubajit Das, coordinator of the Career Guidance and
Counselling Cell, explained the objectives of the workshop. He also pointed out about the various prospects and opportunities of consulting profession for women in
India.
Managing Director of NITCON Rattan Singh delivered a speech on women consultancy in India. Dr Dharmendra Nath, in his presidential comment, explained about the need of
empowering women in the society and Govt of India�s initiative in this regard. The inaugural session concluded with a vote of thanks offered by Dr Subhalakshmi Nath.
The business session of the workshop was started soon after the inaugural session. The resource persons of the session were Rattan Singh, MD, NITCON; Dr Anuradha
Kumar, known consulting psychologist; Emerson Victor, Asstt Manager and Programme Coordinators, NITCON; and Dr Lily Goswami, Associate professor, Deptt of Political
Science, S B Deorah College.
More than 60 girl students participated in the workshop. The resource persons spoke on the concept of consultancy and on the skills required to be a successful
consultant.
Dr Anuradha Kumar delivered an inspiring talk on the need for empowering women. She also spoke on the need for overcoming all obstacles and fully utilizing their
inherent talents and marching forward and becoming successful in life.
The participants were also informed about the success stories of women consultants and acquainted them about the emerging fields of consultancy for women in areas like
tourism, web designing, event management, real estate, interior designing etc. This was stated in a press release.
