Workshop on patient safety held at city hospital

GUWAHATI, Dec 8 - Down Town Hospital today organised the First North East Patient Safety workshop in association with the National Accreditation Board for Hospitals & Healthcare Providers (NABH), New Delhi, said a statement.

Dr KK Kalra, CEO of NABH, who was the keynote speaker, spoke on the need for quality and patient safety.

Prof Arpan Guha, head of Post Graduate School of Medicine, University of Liverpool, UK, spoke about the patient safety module of Liverpool University.

Beenamma Korian, State Quality Assurance Coordinator, Department of Health & Family Welfare of Karnataka, highlighted the aspects of nursing as the key to improving quality of care through patient safety.

There was a panel discussion on patient safety by a group of experts. Dr NN Dutta, CMD of Down Town Hospital, said patient safety is one of the fundamental principles of patient care.

A total of 120 participants from various healthcare sectors of NE attended the workshop.
