By The Assam Tribune

GUWAHATI, Sept 26 - FICCI FLO North-East, in collaboration with The Atelier, organised a workshop on Parenting and the Strokes Economy, at Hotel Novotel here today, said a press release.

FICCI FLO North-East chairperson Sarita Sikaria in her welcome address, said the aim of the workshop was to educate parents about mindful parenting, so as to maintain and better the relationship between parents and children. She also said that the funds generated would be used in different women empowerment projects of the organisation.

Neena Agarwal, founder of The Atelier, talking about the institution, said The Atelier is a studio for learning, where the philosophy, amongst many things, imbibes that environment is the third teacher, the children speak a 100 languages and that mindful adults and parents can really bring out the best in children.

The workshop was conducted by Sonal Kothari, a practising psychotherapist and Parent Effectiveness Training (P.E.T.) expert from Bangalore. She has been a parent coach for the last ten years. She focused largely on giving and receiving care/strokes as a fundamental need of all human beings. Among other things, she explained that every individual has three ego states if the child within, is taken care of then the parent is more equipped to operate from the adult state; thus every adult, every parent needs to take care of their own selves and become role models for their children thats the easiest and the quickest way to teach children.

The workshop was attended by FLO members and many guests. The event was organised by the members of FLO North East, headed by Juhie Saboo, vice chairperson; Ramita Jhunjhunwala, treasurer and Bela Nawka, committee member, among others. Juhie Saboo also gave the vote of thanks.
