GUWAHATI, July 21 - Sangeetika, an organisation of artistes, is organising a workshop on old evergreen Assamese songs at Surya Club (near Guwahati Club) on July 29, 30 and 31.

The objective of the workshop is to popularise the old Assamese numbers among the new generation and to ensure that those are rendered without any distortion.

Singers Ashim Jyoti Baruah, Rupam Bhuyan and Prasanta Rajkhowa will impart training to the participants. The first workshop will focus on songs of Navakanta Baruah, Subir Mukherjee, Purushottam Das, among others. Interested participants can contact the organisers at Chakravarty�s, opposite Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra, a press release said.
