GUWAHATI, July 10 - Taking forward Prime Minister Narendra Modi's appeal for eradication of poverty, communalism, corruption and terrorism from the country, the Rambhau Mhalgi Prabodhini (RMP) in association with the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) and the Assam State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (ASCPCR) today organised an orientation workshop here.
In a bid to give further impetus to the Prime Minister�s �Sankalp se Siddhi� appeal and promote it among youngsters, the RMP along with Gandhi Smriti and Darshan Samiti and the NCPCR is approaching the students and teachers in different parts of the country.
Principals from secondary and higher secondary government and private schools took part in the Guwahati edition of the orientation programme.
As part of the campaign, the RMP would be educating students on India�s age-old problems of poverty, corruption, social evils of communalism, casteism, terrorism, etc. The young students would thereafter be asked to think and share how they could contribute to this mission. A pledge for New India is also part of the programme.
Ravindra Sathe, Director General, RMP, while speaking on the occasion, said through �Mission Sankalp se Siddhi�, the RMP aims to encourage 5,00,000 lakh students across 5,000 schools from the eight states of the North East to contribute towards this cause.
�In the first phase, 800 school principals have been invited to participate in the orientation workshops across Guwahati, Shillong, Agartala and Imphal,� he further added.
Priyank Kanoongo, Member (RTE and Education), NCPCR, stressed the students� right to contribute towards nation building.
Dr Sunita Changkakati, Chairperson, Assam State Commission for Protection of Child Rights, welcomed the initiative taken by RMP for children of the NE states.
