GUWAHATI, June 18 � Digital India, a flagship programme of the Government of India, aims to transform India into a digitally empowered society and knowledge economy-information technology on three key vision areas of �Infrastructure as a Utility to Every Citizen�, �Governance and Services on Demand� and �Digital Empowerment of Citizens.�
To prepare the northeastern states in this regard, the National e-Governance Division (NeGD), Department of Electronics and Information Technology, Ministry of Communications and IT, Government of India organised a workshop on �Preparing North East for Digital India� here on Wednesday.
The workshop was aimed at building overall capabilities in the North-east to support the Digital India initiatives. The components of the workshop included �North-east e-governance capacity building initiatives�, �Establish mechanism for empanelment of system integrators for North-east to address the challenge of finding capable policy for the North-east for promotion of SMEs and enhancing the agency base�, among others.
