Workshop on diabetes begins

GUWAHATI, Aug 25 - With an idea to exchange critical scientific views and to expand the knowledge-base among the participants about diabetes, the Research Society for Study of Diabetes in India (RSSDI) is organising a two-day workshop from today.

The workshop aims at dealing with the newer developments in the subject and management of the disease.

RSSDI is one of the largest diabetes research bodies in Asia. Its motto is to undertake responsibility for the all-round management of diabetes and training of doctors, paramedical staff and public.

RSSDI also aims at enhancing the focus on the management of the disease in the Indian subcontinent with the country being projected by WHO to be the diabetic capital of the world by 2020.

Around 400 delegates are attending the workshop. IIT Guwahati Director Prof Gautam Biswas inaugurated the workshop.
