GUWAHATI, Nov 8 - The Directorate of Museums, Assam, organised a workshop on Care of Museum Objects at the Assam State Museum from November 4 to 8.

Staff of the district museums of Assam, Assam State Museum, KK Handique Sanskrit College and others attended the workshop.

Director of Museums YS Wunglengton inaugurated the event and spoke on the newer challenges due to various factors, including climate change and environmental pollution.

Retired Director of Museums RC Das said conservation is the backbone in a museum and elaborated on the need for development of the conservation laboratory at the Assam State Museum.

The participants were trained on various aspects of preventive conservation like cleaning methods, handling, storage, pest management, disaster management, etc.
