SHILLONG, Nov 1 - The second one-day orientation workshop on �Campus to Corporate� was organised by the University Industry Interface Cell (UIIC) of Rajiv Gandhi University at RGU Campus on October 28, stated a press release issued here today.

The workshop provided an insight into what skills a student needs to pick up and the preparations a student needs to do to transit smoothly into the corporate world and professional life. The resource persons for the workshop were Manoj Das, Director, Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship (IIE) and Raktim Barooah, Sr Manager of ICICI Bank. Das stressed on the need of been flexible and the importance of building a mindset of entrepreneurship in the Northeast. He stressed on the fact that the development of Northeast was linked to the development of entrepreneurship. He also elaborated on the various programmes that are offered by the government for entrepreneurs and how important it is in today�s world to be a smart worker rather than a hard worker. He laid stress on the usage of local resources and local people for generating employment sustainable growth in Arunachal Pradesh and Northeast.

Raktim Barooah, in his address, spoke about the importance of time management, professionalism, adaptability and patience as these are the traits that helps one to achieve success in professional life. He informed the students that there would be a lot of scope in the corporate sector in the Northeast in the near future as a lot of banking giants, like ICICI Bank, Axis Bank and HDFC Bank were planning to continuously upgrade their skills to survive in the competitive environment.

The workshop was inaugurated by the Prof NC Roy, acting Vice Chancellor of Rajiv Gandhi University. Earlier, while addressing the gathering, Arindam Garg, Head of the Department of Management and the Coordinator of UIIC of RGU, spoke on the objectives of the workshop and the importance of preparing students for a successful transition into professional life. Garg also informed the audience that Rajiv Gandhi University is one of the first universities to set up an University Industry Cell (UIIC) to make the interface between industry and university more effective, the release added.
