By Staff Correspondent

DIBRUGARH, May 20 - A mass demonstration was organised in Greenwood Tea Estate today as part of the ongoing agitation in the plantations of the Assam Company India Limited under the aegis of the Assam Chah Mazdoor Sangha (ACMS).

The ACMS is holding mass demonstrations serially in all the tea estates of Assam Company India Limited to register their protest against the failure of the plantations management in providing basic facilities to the workers and for abstaining from carrying out the statutory welfare measures in its plantations.

The hour-long demonstration held from 8 am to 9 am in front of the office of the tea garden management was attended by about 1,200 workers, said Nabin Keot, secretary of the ACMS, Khalihamari branch. Keot also addressed the rally. The protesters also submitted a memorandum to the manager of the garden. The workers later resumed work.
