Women�s body pays homage to blast victims

GUWAHATI, Oct 31 - The Brihattar Uttar Guwahati Sanmilita Nari Mancha, paid homage to the October 30, 2008 blast victims at a meeting held at the Anundoram Borooah High Basic School with an earthen lamp lighting programme on Friday, a press release stated.

In the programme, members of all branches of the Brihattar Uttar Guwahati Sanmilita Nari Mancha along with some students of the school, men and women of the locality paid homage to the victims of the blasts. The executive president of the organisation, Beauty Bora in her short speech on the occasion vehemently flayed acts of terrorism and asked the State Government to take adequate steps so that ghastly incidents of this nature are not repeated. A minute�s silence was also observed as a mark of respect to the blast victims. The members of the Mancha also presented a Dehbisaror geet as a prayer to God.

The meeting was conducted by the executive secretary of the Mancha, Usha Devi, while the earthen lamp lighting was done by the advisor of the body, Bimala Rabha and its secretary, Rumi Barua, the press release added.
