Women, girls trained in different vocations

GUWAHATI, April 11 - The International Mission for Social Welfare and Charity (IMSWC) promotes quality and standards in school education for women and girls. It focuses on technical skills development, provides a comprehensive approach which integrates legal frameworks such as the constitution and capacity development challenges such as results orientation and mindset change. To increase household income, reduce malnutrition in children and improve living conditions in rural and isolated Palestinian communities, cut off from their sources of employment and social services, through the empowerment of women as wage-earners and the creation of jobs its specific objectives are to provide women and girls� with vocational training in tailoring and dairy-farming, horticulture, agriculture, duckery, forestry, pisciculture, food processing, article making etc. This was stated in a press release.

In Tezpur, Biswanath and Halem areas of the State under Sonitpur district, 499 women and youth participated in such a programme recently. Another such programme was also held in Barnagar, Bajali and Kalgachia area under Barpeta district in which 607 women and young girls and took part in a five-day programme. Among the noted persons who participated in the programmes were: Debasish Ghosh, secretary general, Mali Bagchi, president of the IMSWC, Dr Sankar Prasad Mahato, Swami Shastrajnananda Maharaj and others, the release added.
