GANGTOK, Aug 11 - In a sensational incident today, a woman aged around 20 years was stabbed to death by an unknown assailant at Tikjek, Geyzing, in West Sikkim district.
The woman had gone to the Geyzing Bazaar to apply online for admission into a college. On her return home, she was attacked by the miscreant. Passersby said that assailant fled the scene after stabbing her.
Though the woman was rushed to the Geyzing Hospital, she succumbed to her injuries on the way and was declared brought dead. Reports said that the post mortem would be conducted at the STNM Hospital here tomorrow.
Meanwhile, the police have launched a massive manhunt for the assailant in the Geyzing-Tikjek area.
