GUWAHATI, Jan 31 � Mridusmita Bhuyan, a journalist working with DY365, was allegedly manhandled by some police personnel while she was trying to capture footage of police quarters under Latasil PS today.
A video journalist who accompanied Bhuyan was also beaten up, resulting in injuries.
An FIR has been lodged with the police in this connection. Later, the police personnel involved in the scuffle also lodged a cross-FIR.
Various organisations, including media bodies, have condemned the incident, terming it as an attack on the fourth estate.
The Journalists� Federation of Assam, Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti, Assam Pradesh Congress Committee, Save Guwahati Build Guwahati among others have condemned the incident, and demanded strong and immediate action against the alleged culprits.
