Woman rescued, trafficker held

JALUKBARI, June 17 - A human trafficker was arrested from the Kamakhya Railway Station and a 21-year-old woman rescued, as part of a special drive carried out by the GRP yesterday. The arrested man has been identified as Nabaratna Goswami (26).

The arrested trafficker hails from Uttar Pradesh, while the rescued woman hails from�Sivasagar�district in upper Assam.

According to a GRP source, Nabaratna befriended the woman on Facebook. He then proposed to marry the woman even as his real intention was to traffic her to Delhi where he was planning to sell her.

The criminal was produced before the court today and sent to jail. A case has been registered at the GRP, Kamakhya Railway Station.
