TEZPUR, Aug 31 - One Sayera Begum of No-1 Dulabari area here today committed suicide by jumping into a well after a rumour spread that her name was not in the final draft of the NRC that was published today.
On receiving the information, police rushed to the Dulabari NSK to investigate the matter and said that the name of the 60-year-old deceased woman, along with her family members was published in the final draft. The husband of the woman, Somser Ali told reporters that their names are already published in the NRC. �But today in the morning, someone of our area just ahead of the publication of the final draft of the NRC at around 8.30 am told her that her name is not coming in the final draft of the NRC. Then she took the ultimate decision to kill herself.� Somser said.
Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner, Sonitpur Narsing Pawar said that the incident has no link with the publication of final draft of the NRC as name of their family has been published in the NRC.
