JORHAT, Jan 21 - Maheshwari Bora, a resident of Bhuyansuk area on the outskirts of Bahona here under Bhogdoi police outpost, was killed while her son Putu Bora was injured today after a neighbour, identified as Jiten Bhuyan, reportedly attacked mother and son following a quarrel.

A police official said that after a quarrel started between both the neighbouring families over throwing of cow dung in the area, Jiten allegedly attacked Maheshwari and Putu with a machete. Putu has been admitted to the Jorhat Medical College and Hospital and his condition is stated to be out of danger. The police took Jiten into custody.

One held: The police arrested a person named Ganesh Verma from a rented house at College Tini-Ali in Nazira of Sivasagar district today on charges of drugs pedalling.

A police official said that powder, suspected to be narcotics, was recovered from Verma�s possession.
