Woman gives birth under open sky

NORTH LAKHIMPUR, Oct 21 - In yet another shocking incident, a woman gave birth to a child in an agricultural field under the open sky in Dambukial in Lohit-Khabolu riverine area of Lakhimpur district. Amina Mili, wife of David Mili from Dambukial village under North Lakhimpur subdivision was carried on a thela to Dambukual ghat to take her to the hospital at Garmur in Majuli as she felt labour pains. After sailing on the river Luhit, the woman was again taken on foot from Pathurisuk. During that walk, halfway to the hospital, the woman fell down on an agricultural field and gave birth to a child. She was later admitted to the hospital for further treatment at Garmur.
