NAGAON, Aug 29 - A woman was allegedly abducted and gang-raped near Amani in Nagaon district last night. According to police sources, the woman was going on a two-wheeler along with her friend from Bhalukmari to Lanka and then they were waylaid and forcibly taken away by four men in their vehicle. The woman was then raped by miscreants, abandoning her near Amoi petrol pump. Later, an oil tanker rescued the woman and handed over to police.
A case has been registered in this connection. Interestingly, the person with whom the woman was travelling has remained untraced till filing this report. Police has intensified operation in various parts of the district to nab the culprits involved in the incident. �We are investing the case from various angles and a senior officer has been asked to investigate the case,� high-placed police sources said.
