MANGALDAI, April 18 - In a tragic incident during polling today, a woman voter died immediately after casting her vote at polling station number 156 at Gelaidingi LP School under Mangaldai LAC of the Mangaldai HPC. She has been identified as Bharati Bora Kakati (39).
According to information available, Kakati came out of the polling booth and was about to ride pillion on a two-wheeler when she collapsed and lost consciousness. Though she was immediately rushed to the Mangaldai Civil Hospital, the doctors on duty declared her brought dead.
In a similar incident a couple of days back, a constable engaged in poll duty had died of cardiac arrest. Armed Branch constable Tilak Hazarika was camping at the ITI complex in Gerimari here. He was also declared brought dead by the doctors on duty at the Mangaldai Civil Hospital.
