AIZAWL, Nov 8 - It might sound bizarre, but a 37-year-old woman in Champhai district of Mizoram delivered a baby inside an overturned auto-rickshaw.
The woman was on her way to a hospital�in the auto-rickshaw when it met with an accident. The hospital is about 4 km away from her esidence.
Mansianvungi, who was nine-month pregnant, was being shifted to the Champhai district hospital from her home at Bethel Veng locality in the auto-rickshaw that met with an accident and overturned on the hilly road. A woman named Zami, who lived nearby and knows midwifery, came to the rescue of Mansianvungi who was in the throes of labour pain.
�Zami helped her safely deliver the baby inside the overturned auto-rickshaw. The baby and the mother both were doing fine,� Sangtea Fanai, a resident of Champhai, said.
