IMPHAL, Jan 21 - Assam Rifles personnel yesterday caught a woman carrying explosive materials in her bag while checking a mini bus in Manipur�s East Imphal district.
The personnel of 16 Assam Rifles seized nine detonators, three gelatine sticks, 125 gm of highly explosive powder and fuses from the woman at Gwaltabi village which is adjacent to Ukhrul district of the State.
The middle-aged woman, who was identified as a resident of Ukhrul, was arrested and handed over to police along with the explosives.
Security forces have been alerted by the authority in view of the Republic Day, a Home department official said.
Manipur police have picked up 26 people for verification yesterday from Manipur�s Imphal East and West districts by conducting search operations in different areas of the State. � PTI
