Withdrawal of EPFO interim order sought

GUWAHATI, July 15 - A protest was staged today at the EPFO at Bhangagarh here by the EPS95 National Agitation Committee in support of their various demands regarding pension and Provident Fund, stated a press release. The agitation was led by NAC (Assam) president Ganesh Chandra Deka and secretary Samsul Hoque.

In a statement, NAC national commander Ashok Raut said nationwide agitations were taking place at various offices of the EPFO. A massive protest took place in Delhi in February, and a chain hunger strike has been continuing at Buldana, Maharashtra for the last 200 days.

On Monday, the demonstrators burnt copies of the High Empowered Monitoring Committee Report and the Interim Advisory issued by EPFO in front of EPFO offices across the country.

The pensioners are demanding withdrawal of the EPFO Interim Advisory dated May 31, 2017, giving pensioners the choice of higher pension as per the Supreme Court order, minimum pension be enhanced to Rs 7,500 plus DA. They are also demanding provision of free medical facilities to all pensioners and their spouses.
