With 227 new recoveries, Manipur active cases drop to 1,937

IMPHAL, Dec 16 - With 227 new recoveries in the last 24 hours, the total number of COVID-19 active cases in Manipur dropped to 1,937 for the first time since September 19, as per official reports.

Meanwhile, new cases among civilians have been reported from Imphal West, Imphal East, Thoubal, Bishnupur, Kakching, Ukhrul, Tamenglong, Noney and Churachandpur.

All are locals without any significant travel history. All necessary precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, officials said. The cumulative number of positive cases is 27,373, they added.

On the other hand, the total recovered cases in Manipur reached 25,107 on Wednesday. The recovery rate of the State now stands at 91.72 per cent.

The newly recovered patients are from 14 COVID care facilities, including 150 under home isolation.

In the last 24 hours, two males from Thoubal and Kakching expired due to COVID-19, added the press release. The cumulative number of deaths is 329.

As of Wednesday, 5,04,876 people have been screened at various entry points into the State, while 4,58,883 individuals have been tested for the disease, said officials.
