Winners of postal dept letter writing contest declared

GUWAHATI, Sept 28 - The winners of the State-level letter writing competition organised by the Assam Postal Circle, Department of Post, Ministry of Communications under the �Dhai Akhar Campaign� to revive the beautiful art of writing letters, were declared today.

The competition was held in two categories for two different age groups each from June 24, 2017 to August 15, 2017. More than 5,000 letters were received from participants from across the State and scrutinised by prominent personalities.

The winning entries have been sent to the Postal Directorate as entries for the national-level competition.

In the Inland Letter Category (Open Category), Hiranya Kumar Barman of Guwahati has emerged first, with Saurav Kalita of Pathsala and Bagmita Hazarika of Lakhimpur securing the second and third positions respectively.

In the below 18 years category, Devadidev Saikia of Sivasagar was the winner, with Jyotishman Kalita of Pathsala securing the second position and Panchali Bhuyan of Bezera and Gayatri Gogoi of Golaghat being joint third position holders.

In Envelop Category (Open Category), Priyanka Roy of Tinsukia emerged winner, while the second and third positions were secured by Binayak Bhattacharjee of Guwahati and Satabdi Ganguly of Tinsukia respectively.

In the below 18 years category, Rishika Barua of Nagaon came out first, with Pujapriya Moran of Tinsukia and Bidisha Nath of Nagaon securing the second and third positions respectively.

On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, an exhibition on philately is also being organised at the Guwahati GPO on October 2, where these letters will also be displayed. A prize distribution function will be held in which the winners will be awarded.
