Wings of Mind to compete in Maharashtra film festival

GUWAHATI, Oct 22 - Wings of Mind (Pakhi Loga Mon), a short film directed by Junmoni Devi Khaund has been selected in the competition section of the LIFFT India Filmotsav-World Cine Fest, to be held in Lonavla, Maharashtra in December.

The film has also earned acclaim in various film festivals across the globe and bagged altogether four awards, the Top 3rd Award in International Film Festival, Jaipur; Finalist Nomination Certificate in 9th Gujarat International Short Film Festival; Outstanding Excellence of Direction and Voice-Over Talent Award in Women�s International Film Festival, USA and Award of Special Mention in Best Shorts Competition, USA.

The film depicts the success story of a small girl born in a remote village of Jorhat district who is denied school education by her father for being a girl. Despite having no formal education, she learns weaving from her mother and sets an example by taking up the vocation as her career.

The film�s Voice-Over talent Award in Women�s International Film Festival, USA was bagged by Ritisha Khaund, a student of city-based Sanskriti The Gurukul School.

In another encouraging development, young scriptwriter of the State Rajdweep recently signed an agreement with a production house of Mumbai to write the screenplay for its next film.
