GUWAHATI, Oct 20 - Sima Barman, a 12-year-old girl, was trampled to death by a wild elephant near Panikhaiti here in the wee hours today.
Sima was asleep when the wild jumbo attacked their house located in the Bangaon area, leading to her death.
Two of her siblings � Pushpa Barman (10) and Dimpi Barman (7) � also sustained injuries in the incident and were subsequently rushed to the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital.
Their condition is stated to be stable.
The local people allege that the forest staff did not arrive at the site even after several hours of the incident.
