MUSHALPUR, Jan 17 � In a humble bid to conserve wild birds, Bhabani Prasad Sarma, SDO (Sadar), Baksa released two wild ducks into Charan beel behind Baksa DC Office at Bathoupuri, Mushalpur recently. The SDO had rescued the birds from a vendor who happened to enter his house at Tihu recently to sell the ducks for the year-end feast. When told that it was a crime to trap, sell or kill wild birds, the vendor gave the excuse of his poverty. The officer, however, managed to motivate the vendor against selling of the wild ducks or any other wild birds. As a result, the vendor handed him over the ducks and the officer released the pair into a marsh behind the Baksa DC office in the presence of Kishor Thakuria, SDO Baksa, Sarfaraj Haque, EAC, Baksa. Nature lovers of the locality have lauded the initiative of the SDO.
