JORABAT, Aug 30 - The wild buffalo that was rescued and released in the forest of Digaru Paar, Sonapur (Amchang wildlife sanctuary) yesterday, succumbed to his injuries and died inside the forest.
The nearby villagers said that they found the body of the buffalo in the forest and informed the forest officials of Sonapur. A team of forest officials reached the spot this afternoon, along with Sonapur police personnel, and buried the buffalo carcass with the help of a JCB earth mover.
The local student union alleged that the injured buffalo died because it was not given the required veterinary treatment following its rescue from a pit.
