Wholesale, retail outlets raided

KALAIGAON, June 15 - The Bhergaon civil administration and police have taken tough action against a section of illegal traders in the sub-division this week.

Following a spate of public allegations, SDO (Civil) incharge Gokul Chandra Brahma, ADC, Udalguri district, swung into action against steep rise in prices of essential commodities in wholesale and retail outlets in Tangla town.

A special vigilance squad headed by Kushal Kalita and Nirmal Jyoti Sarma, executive magistrates of Bhergaon sub-division assisted by Assistant Director of Civil Supplies raided several shops and wholesale outlets in Tangla town.

The squad also raided several hotels to check the quality of food served to the customers. All the hotel owners were advised to strictly follow food safety standards.

DK Sarma, O/C of Tangla Police Station was also present on the occasion. The general people, mostly senior citizens of Tangla, Bhergaon, Khoirabari and Kalaigaon have appreciated the move.
