West Tripura LS poll notification issued

AGARTALA, March 18 - The notification for Lok Sabha polls for West Tripura seat was issued by the Election Commission along with 90 other Parliamentary constituencies across the nation on Monday.

Announcing this, the State Election Commissioner Sriram Taranikant said that the elections to the West Tripura Parliamentary seat will come off on April 11. According to the poll schedule finalised by the EC, the last date for filing nomination is on March 25 which will be followed by the scrutiny of nomination on March 26 and the last date for withdrawing nomination will fall on March 28.

Taranikant said that all arrangements are being made to ensure free and fair election. Secretary of Election Commission Arbind Anand has already arrived here to oversee the preparations being made for smooth and fair elections.

Anand held meetings with representatives of political parties to get their feedback on the election process. Besides, he had a meeting with polling and security officials to check the preparedness for the Parliamentary elections.
