West Sikkim hospital gets ventilator

GANGTOK, April 3 - A ventilator has been procured by the West Sikkim district administration for the isolation centre set up to tackle COVID-19 at Ayush Hospital, Kyongsa in Gyalshing. This was stated by Karma R Bonpo, the District Collector. The ventilator, along with a syringe pump, has been procured through SDRF funds.

Besides the STNM Hospital here, the Ayush Hospital at Gyalshing has been designated as an isolation centre for COVID-19 and currently, ten beds are available at the centre with the provision to upgrade to 40 beds. The isolation centre is manned by a medical team led by Dr Anusha Lama, Chief Medical Officer, West Sikkim.

Meanwhile, the isolation centre has sent nine samples for tests and all have come back negative. There are adequate stocks of PPE, N-95 masks, surgical masks and medicines at the centre. The district administration is providing all logistical help to the isolation centre at the hospital.
