GUWAHATI, July 8 - The members of the Paschim Guwahati Nagarik Sajagata Mancha had a threadbare discussion regarding the deplorable condition of the locality with Guwahati Mayor Mrigen Saraniya on Wednesday.
General secretary of the Mancha informed the Mayor regarding the deplorable condition of the roads, drainage, water supply in west Guwahati as also encroachment on the pavements for commercial purposes like scooter garage, food stalls, etc., causing major inconvenience to the pedestrians.
Absence of street lights on the AT Road from Bharalumukh police point to Athgaon flyover was also discussed with the Mayor. Because of the unauthorized constructions and movement of heavy trucks due to the presence of many business houses, general people face great hardship in the locality. The matter of construction of huge buildings without any parking facility was also brought to his notice.
After spot visits, the Mayor assured the people of immediate measures for solving the problems.
