GUWAHATI, June 4 - The executive body meeting of the Assam Weightlifting Association (AWA) was held today through Zoom app with the help of Assam Olympic Association (AOA).
The meeting discussed about the training of weightlifters and their future. The Assam Government has already taken steps to resume the training for the international and national players. The members of the AWA hoped that training centres will reopen soon as per the government guidelines. In the meeting it was also resolved to conduct the 48th Assam State Weightlifting Championships at Haflong, Dima Hasao in November or December if the situation permits.
The webinar was hosted by AWA general secretary, Bhabajyoti Goswami. AOA general secretary Lakhya Konwar welcomed the members before the start of the online meeting and praised the activities of the organisation which has produced several national and international medal winners.
