Week-long campaign on child welfare concludes

GUWAHATI, Jan 12 - A week-long campaign on child welfare under the Chief Minister�s Sunali Saishab Prakalpa - Surakshit Sishu Surakshit Asom, came to an end in Kamrup district on January 11 at Amingaon.

The project has been initiated under the State government�s plan of action on child welfare launched in Kamrup district along with the entire State on January 5.

On the occasion, the District Child Protection Unit (DCPU), Kamrup carried out a weeklong campaign on child welfare in the district. During the campaign, a Guwahati-based NGO sSTEP cooperated with DCPU Kamrup. The campaign was launched in Kamrup district with a rally at Amingaon. Later on a signature campaign was held at different places of the district, said a statement.

On January 9, a speech competition was organised among the students at Amingaon Bengali LP School, followed by street plays at several places of the district the next day.

On January 11, the campaign culminated with a meeting at Amingaon Bengali LP School, which was attended by the Subdivisional Officer (SDO) Sadar, J Keerthi as the chief guest. Keerthi lauded the organisers for carrying out a successful campaign. She also urged all departments concerned to act hand-in-hand for the welfare of children.
