Web portal launched for admission into Govt ITIs

GUWAHATI, July 11 - Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal launched an online admission web portal for admission into all Government ITIs in Assam for the session 2016-17 at a function held at the conference hall of the Assam Secretariat this evening.

Launching the web portal was a part of the BJP-led Government�s 100 days� action plan. Moreover, chairing a meeting at the conference room of the Secretariat on Monday, Sonowal had taken a look and finalised the �100 days action plan� for the Labour and Employment Department.

As a component of the action plan, steps have been taken for inspection of all registered gardens on a mission mode within 100 days and prepare status report for further follow-up on the findings. It may be mentioned that out of the total number of 792 registered tea gardens in the State, 428 tea gardens have already been inspected.

Moreover, a decision has also been made to issue draft notification relating to fixation of minimum wage for workers engaged in domestic work and a meeting of the Minimum Wage Advisory Committee of Domestic Wage is scheduled to be held on July 16 to discuss the matter.

As part of the 100-day action plan, a special awareness drive will be launched for a �child labour free city�. The meeting also decided to issue letters to all tea managements requesting them to issue all notices relating to pay and other related issues in the recognised languages of the respective localities.

The meeting has also given its nod for online processing of provident fund of tea garden employees and workers settlement claim within a minimum of 48 hours and maximum 15 days. Moreover, the State Government will enhance family pension of tea garden employees and workers from existing Rs 250 to Rs 500 per month.

The meeting has given its stamp of approval on enhancement of deposit link insurance benefit raising the minimum amount to Rs 50,000 and maximum of Rs 1 lakh. Moreover, for the workers� well-being, the Employees State Insurance Scheme, Assam, will organise health check-up camps in different industries within August 31 next.

Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Labour and Employment, Pallab Lochan Das, Chief Secretary VK Pipersenia, Additional Chief Secretaries KV Eapen and Shyamlal Mewara, Commissioner and Secretary of Chief Minister Sanjay Lohia and other senior officers were present at the meeting.
